It sounds surreal, but such a service is available to residents of the Indian state of Kerala. On the local streets you can see a magnificent taxi that sparkles with gold.

Rolls-Royce Phantom is a luxury car, available only to very wealthy people. Indian businessman and philanthropist Boby Chemmanur wrapped his elegant sedan in gold foil and put a TAXI roof sign. And this is not a joke — a luxury car is really used as a taxi. Moreover, the owner carries passengers himself.
Boby explains this unexpected decision with a desire to please people and give them an unforgettable experience. During business trips, the entrepreneur noticed admiring looks of people when his Rolls-Royce drove past. Then the idea arose to turn an exclusive car into a tourist taxi.

The unique taxi can be booked for the whole day for 25,000 Indian rupees (approximately $303). For twice the amount, the car can be rented for a wedding. That’s a pretty modest fare considering the Rolls-Royce Phantom is one of the most expensive cars on the Indian market. The newest generation of this model costs about $1.5 million there.

Sometimes the businessman gives free rides to tourists to promote his hometown. Judging by the reviews of the lucky ones who drove with the millionaire, they experienced a pure delight.
